Joint Research Seminar & Translation Workshop: “Air, Tubes, and Other Wacky Affiliations. Discussing Questions of Translation in Günther Anders’ ‘To Love, Yesterday’ ”

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 08-09:30 (Berlin time), I will be giving a joint seminar/workshop on the English translation of “Lieben gestern” upon invitation (thanks to Dr. Benjamin Nickl and Dr. Christopher J. Müller) by the Department of International Comparative Literature and Translation Studies and the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sydney: “Air, Tubes and other Wacky Affiliations. Discussing Questions of Translation in Günther Anders’ To Love, Yesterday.

This seminar/workshop invites participants to a work-in-progress discussion and serves to explore questions around the process of German-English translation. Object under study are two short excerpts from Günther Anders’ Lieben gestern: Notizen zur Geschichte des Fühlens (C.H. Beck, 3rd edition, 1997).

For more information on the primary text and Anders, please see C.H. Beck Verlag and Die Internationale Günther Anders-Gesellschaft.

This event is supported by a Radial Initiative Grant from the German Translator Fund.
